Integration improves services and drives savings
Integrating existing applications improves services and cuts costs, as well as underpinning successful mobile working. This is the overwhelming result of a survey carried out by NDL at the Civica Annual Conference in January. In total, over 90 per cent felt that integration delivers the twin benefits of enhanced services and cost savings.
One of the key issues facing respondents is the cost and complexity of integrating existing applications, with 78 per cent citing this as a concern. NDL’s awi universal adaptor integration technology is a cost-effective and flexible way of overcoming this barrier. awi links and integrates with systems regardless of vendor or age. It replaces vendor APIs and saves the time and cost of acquiring multiple adaptors.
Key findings of the Civica survey include:
- 93 per cent favour a corporate rather than a departmental approach to mobile working.
- 67 per cent see lack of integration as a barrier to mobile working.
- 90 per cent feel integration can deliver both improved services and cost savings; seven per cent improved services only; and two per cent cost savings only.
- 100 per cent would like to drive more value from existing applications.
- 78 per cent are concerned about the cost and complexity of integrating existing applications.
- When asked which mobile device they preferred, 81 per cent stated BlackBerry, 12 per cent Windows, and two per cent Tablet PCs.
The Civica survey builds on findings from two major reports published by NDL in the last few months:
- The Mobile Working Survey highlighted a preference for a corporate strategy for mobile working rather than disparate projects, as this would streamline the implementation and management of mobile working. You can obtain a copy of this report by clicking here.
- CRM Systems & Integration in Local Authorities showed a desire for integration to drive savings, but a fear of its cost and complexity. You can obtain a copy of this report by clicking here.
